Best Week for Bonds in a Month
Last week started rough, with bonds losing ground Monday and lenders nudging pricing higher. Tuesday and Wednesday were mostly a standoff. Then Thursday a selloff in tech stocks sent investors running to bonds, the 10-year Treasury yield dropped sharply, and mortgage bonds climbed to their best levels in about a month. Friday gave a little of that back, but rates still finished the week clearly better than they started it. This week, watch whether the tech jitters keep up, because that's what has been pushing rates lower.
What it means for buyers: Rates are in better shape than a week ago, but this run depends on stocks staying shaky. If you're under contract and haven't locked, call me and we'll talk timing.
